The Northeast Modern Language Association (NEMLA) 2013 Convention (session: Textual Tourism in Transatlantic Narrative at the Turn of the Twentieth Century) (Tufts University, Boston MA: 21-24 March, 2013)

Deadline: 30 Aug 2012
Website: http://www.nemla.org/convention/2013/cfp.html

Do literary visitations and voyages constitute legitimate sites of cultural exchange or do they merely reinforce national identity? This panel will explore the exchange of aesthetic sensibilities between the UK and the USA at the turn of the 20th century and how such exchanges may contribute to a form of transnational nationalism. We welcome proposals on texts and authors from both countries.

Interested participants should send abstracts of 300-500 words to Kai Hainer and Colin Loughran.

Deadline: August 30, 2012
. Please include with your abstract:
Name and Affiliation
 Email address
 Postal address
Telephone number
A/V requirements (if any; $10 handling fee with registration)

Interested participants may submit abstracts to more than one NeMLA session; however, panelists can only present one paper (panel or seminar). Convention participants may present a paper at a panel and also present at a creative session or participate in a roundtable.
